Different Types of Hypnosis
Hypnosis isn’t just for a showoff because the truth is, it’s being used for a long time as one of the ways of treating and curing people. For quite a lot of years, it’s deemed as some sort of fad, fringe or paranormal. In reality, even science is backing up the effects and the applications as well of hypnosis. The general public is now more aware of hypnosis and that “fad” and other skepticism associated to it is gradually fading.
Truth is, there are various principles of hypnosis that are used nowadays and these include but not limited to the following.
Traditional hypnosis – this is classic hypnosis model and is being used for a long time. It’s version performed by hypnotist who is putting the subject or patient into deep trance and directing them by making use of commands and suggestions. Traditional hypnosis approach has been ridiculed and misaligned throughout the years which are mostly unjustified. However, some criticism made to it is correct. On the other hand, if it’s applied correctly, it serves as an effective and valuable tool that can be both helpful and fun.
Hypnotherapy – when using hypnosis in promoting positive development or healing, this is considered as hypnotherapy. More often than not, this is used in tackling psychological problems of the mind; after all, this is where hypnosis shows its true potency.
When hypnotherapy has been successfully performed, it will be able to reprogram patterns of behavior within the mind and it may allow things such as irrational fears, phobias, negative emotions and addictions that can be controlled. Not only that, hypnotherapy may be used in controlling pain sensations which is also the same reason why it’s used prior surgery.
Self hypnosis or auto hypnosis – as what the name suggests, this approach depends on inducing hypnosis on the person themselves. There are a number of ways in which this could be done like listening to recordings or introducing series of procedures to patients. Most of the self hypnosis can be delivered as hypnotherapy which is practically the same with meditation and deep relaxation.
As a matter of fact, both self hypnosis and hypnosis are almost the same. The only difference is that, the patient works on their own will instead of having someone induce the hypnosis to them.
NLP hypnosis – NLP or Neuro-Linguistic Programming has origin from becoming a psychological therapy dealing with phobias, habits, learning disorders, depression and other related matters. This approach is more popular as a self-help tool actually.
